The following pictures were taken during my Discogram on 1/14/04.

The results of the Discogram were so conclusive that they decided to spare me the pain and not even send me for CT scans after the test. The following pictures illustrate my test results:

In the top two pictures (Left), you can clearly see the needles running from the left to right directly into my L4L5 and L5S1 discs.

In the bottom two pictures, you can see the disc after the dye injections. Note that in the picture on lower right, note the difference between a solid disc holding the dye properly (L4L5) and a disc with no structure left to it, where the dye just goes wherever it wants (L5S1). On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the pain when the L5S1 was injected as a 15.

These two pictures (Left) were taken posterially after the Discogram was completed. Once again you can compare a structurally sound disc (L4L5) with the dye holding well within the nucleus, and my L5S1 that, without any structure left at all, looks like a mess.
